Individual Breakdown: The foundation of USA basketball is the daily fundamentals taught during individual post and perimeter breakdowns. Throughout these practice sessions the guards and big guys work on the designated actions of the offense. The staff teaches proper technique of how to use the screen to attack the "kill area" of the floor, keeping the defender off the line of the ball, and how to attack an aggressive hedge by the defense. Perimeter players are run through a series of chair and shooting drills, while the post players work on their drop step series, jump hooks and face up series while attacking the basket with aggressiveness. They also are drilled on flashing to the high post and working on a series of moves to enable them to score close the basket.
